Purple Anthurium Arrangement

A deliberately theatrical piece. Deep purple hydrangea anchors the base, white anthurium and plum callas rise out of the top, and orange, cream and green run through the middle. Curled willow and grasses break the outline so it never settles into a neat dome.

Roughly 45 cm across and 80 cm tall, in a tall cylindrical box. This is the largest thing in the category and it is built to be seen from one side, standing on the floor or on a low surface — a hallway, a shop window, an entrance, a stage. It is not a table piece and not a gift to carry home on a bus.

Scent: noticeable, and it comes from two directions. The lilac stock is sweet and clove-like, the orange marigolds are sharp and herbal. Together they are a lot in a small room. Say the word and we will build the same look without either.

Pets: not pet-safe, and this one carries more than most. The ASPCA lists hydrangea, calla lily, anthurium and marigold as toxic to cats and dogs — calla and anthurium both cause burning and swelling of the mouth. If there is an animal in the house, tell us and we will rebuild the same drama from safe flowers, at no extra charge.

Arrives finished in its box and needs no vase. Made to order from the flowers that came in fresh that morning, so the exact mix shifts a little — more so here than usual, because several of these are one-off stems rather than standing stock.
