Blue Hydrangea & Pink Roses

A blue hydrangea head at the centre, with blush roses, one warmer peach note and pink spires rising around it, in a footed white ceramic vase. Roughly 25 cm across and about 45 cm tall with the vase — this one is built to be seen rather than talked across: a console, a sideboard, a hallway table, a reception desk.

Blue and pink together is the whole idea here. Hydrangea blue and dusty-blue accents against soft blush, with silver eucalyptus holding the edges. It reads clearly from across a room, which is why it photographs so well.

Scent. Very light — a little eucalyptus, a little rose. It will not compete with food or fill a small room.

Pets. Not pet-safe as photographed: hydrangea and eucalyptus are both listed by the ASPCA as toxic to cats and dogs. Tell us there is an animal in the house and we will talk it through honestly — the blue is the difficult part, since the dependable blue flowers are mostly on that list, but we can rebuild the same soft, rounded shape in pinks and whites at no extra charge.

No vase needed. The ceramic vase is part of it and stays with you. It arrives finished and standing in water — change the water every couple of days and trim a centimetre off the stems, and it holds well. Hydrangea drinks through its head as well as its stem, so a light mist on a hot day helps.

Dressing a whole room. The same blue-and-pink palette scales in either direction: smaller versions for side tables or a bedside, a hand-tied bouquet in the same colours to send home with a guest, low arrangements for a dinner table so nobody has to look around them.
